Inflammatory diseases of the female genital organs (inflammatory diseases of the pelvic organs, PID) are a group of infectious diseases that make up 60-65% of women’s visits to gynecologists.
Depending on the infectious agent that caused the disease, inflammatory diseases are divided into inflammatory processes of specific and nonspecific etiology. The first group includes sexually transmitted diseases. The second group includes diseases caused mainly by staphylococci, Escherichia coli, streptococci and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
My name is Mrs. Maria Rudnik, I’m the CEO of the Mami.clinic, a fertility coach and I have been helping women get pregnant for many years. I constantly talk with women, immerse myself in their problems and know what is going on not only in their body, but also in their head.
Symptoms
Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) are quite diverse in their types. But the main symptoms of the presence of diseases belonging to such a group are:
- Pain in the lower abdomen;
- Redness, swelling, itching in the external genital area;
- Pain during intercourse;
- Abundant or purulent discharge;
- Irregularity of menstruation;
- Pain when urinating.
Pelvic inflammatory disease PIDs are divided into several groups:
- Inflammatory processes affecting the vulva, vagina, cervix: vulvovaginitis, bartholinitis, colpitis, cervicitis;
- Inflammatory processes affecting the uterus, appendages: endomyometritis, salpingitis, oophoritis, salpingoophoritis (adnexitis), pyosalpinx, pyovar, tubo-ovarian formation, hydrosalpinx, parametritis, pelvioperitonitis.
Diagnostics of pelvic inflammatory disease
- The study of smears on the flora, which allows to establish the presence of noticeable pathogens, signs of inflammation;
- Polymerase chain reaction, which makes it possible to detect small pathogens;
- Special analysis of ELISA, aimed at identifying Ig M, indicating the chronic course of the disease;
- A Pap test that can detect inflammation and even detect signs of cancer.
Treatment of pelvic inflammatory disease PID is determined by the type of disease included in this group.
The types of conservative treatment for acute forms of pelvic inflammatory disease PID are therapy:
- Designed to fight infection
- Antimycotic in order to prevent the occurrence of candidiasis, which is often the result of taking drugs belonging to the group of antibiotics;
- Designed to eliminate inflammation;
- Desensitizing;
- Aimed at activating the immune defense of the body;
- Assigned in the form of uroseptics, etc.
Often, chronic pelvic inflammatory disease PID is treated by performing physiotherapy and prescribing drugs that activate the body’s defenses. With an excessive number of certain pathogens, treatment is carried out aimed at restoring their normal content. In order to establish the presence of adhesions, laparoscopy is performed. This procedure allows you to identify adhesions and even separate them, restore patency and normal operation of the fallopian tubes.
